Sustainable regional mobility
Developing sustainable, climate-resilient, smart and intermodal national, regional and local mobility, including improving access to TEN-T and cross-border mobility
Eligible beneficiaries: counties
What is funded:
- Improving the connectivity of secondary road links to the road network and TEN-T nodes by modernizing county roads, building new county road segments to connect to highways or express roads;
- Development of solutions to reduce traffic congestion by creating detours for municipalities/cities, creating/modernizing passages, road junctions, etc.;
- Actions to increase road safety, as an integral part of operations 1-2: passive safety measures (impact attenuators and guide rails), acoustic and visual signaling of dangerous road sectors and obstacles through the use of green energy, construction of uneven passages, construction/arrangement of roundabouts, measures to prevent incidents/accidents caused by wildlife (passages, tunnels, concrete boxes, canals for amphibians, etc.), construction of pedestrian walkways, actions for road safety for pedestrians and cyclists, etc. ;
- Actions to ensure the sustainability of the investment, as an integral part of operations 1-2: the location of stations and electric charging points to encourage the use of electric vehicles, reducing the impact on protected areas by creating, restoring ecological corridors in order to ensure lateral connectivity for species of large carnivores, wild ungulates, amphibians, reptiles or small mammals; creating alignments of trees located along transport routes and parapets for protection, bank defenses and slope reinforcements, investments for road protection against the effects generated by extreme weather conditions, the effect of climate change, etc.;
- Digitization actions to ensure/increase road safety, as an integral part of operations 1-2: horizontal and vertical road signaling systems, active safety systems, video traffic monitoring, etc
